Fans have been clamoring for a return to form on classic Sony IP which has been dormant. Particularly of interest are the PS3 library of franchises mainly on ice since the close of the seventh generation. With PlayStation 6 chipset already being talked about by Sony and AMD, fans want more single player content. Is it time for PS5 to start seeing a run of secret big budget exclusives coming out of the woodwork?

Apparently Jordan Middler of VGC Podcast only has one source, and stopped short of writing an article about it – however, began to allege that one source inside Sony is saying a brand new inFamous has been in development since Ghost of Yōtei released. Sony has also removed their listing on the PlayStation Blog from years ago stating that Sucker Punch had no plans to make another inFamous at this time.

It remains unclear if Sucker Punch is luckier than other studios which recently saw Sony’s closure after radically disastrous launches such as Concord and behind-the-scenes titles cancelled by the misguided direction of Bungie such as The Last Of Us Online. But it seems like a strong inFamous 3 would be perfect for Sony’s stated mission of refocusing on in-demand exclusive games.

There has also been fear about these rumors that perhaps Sony is working on an inFamous project that is either a spin-off, smaller title, or even short film crossover media. Some worry we will see a different studio working on the game but it could be one studio to remake the originals and one studio to make a new numbered entry. This seems like something Sony could do, but in this case it has been a long time since they brought out a “sure thing” and went all in (besides Spider Man). This could be the moment everyone is waiting for.

inFamous was revealed for Sony PlayStation 3 during the E3 2007 Press Conference, among a legendary lineup of exclusive single player and multiplayer titles to kick off PlayStation Network. At the time of this reveal, inFamous had a unique look and feel with a huge load of processor power supporting its large open world full of encounters. inFamous presented a near-term future urban dystopia with anti-heroes and the unlikely suspect being gifted with superhuman powers.

This is one of those games which had it all, great story, environments, music, but above all else had a great gameplay experience for its time. Offering up dozens of hours for those who like to explore and wander through living breathing worlds, before it became the norm of the industry. This genre has since seen inFamous 2 (2011, PS3) and inFamous Second Son and First Light (2014, PS4).

Fans have been vocal that despite some high profile exclusives making the PS5 generation great, we need more releases that make it feel complete before the hype train for PS6 can be socially acceptable.
