The Dark Eye: Memoria is a point-and-click adventure game that’s coming to Windows PC and Mac OS X at the end of this month. Unlike other titles of the genre, this one is not first person and shows fully animated characters acting out the commands that you present to them. Clicking the middle mouse button (or pressing the space bar) will give also give you hints as to what you are meant to do next, something that is extremely useful for a game of this nature. The tools at your disposal, including items and magic, are a part of an auto-hiding menu.
In Memoria you will be able to use magic to repair / destruct certain objects in the game-world right from the start, causing you to be very useful to some of the characters you come across. You will be tasked with things like solving riddles, experiencing ancient and mystical memories through time, and eventually gain even more spells. The difficulty presented in the challenges you face make this game a thinking man’s haven. You’ll be presented with increasingly complex puzzles that don’t make themselves immediately obvious and therefore might not be really considered puzzles at all, but more like your character performing miracle-like feats.
A mixture of 3D and 2D graphic design went into this game, and you can tell a close attention to detail has been applied. Even on a low-spec machine the game looks visually impressive and draws you in giving a real living world experience to the player. Memoria is developed by Daedalic Entertainment for publishing by Deep Silver, and is scheduled for launch on Windows PC and Mac OS X from August 30th, 2013.
