The Escapists Steam Review (Time To Bust Out!)

The Escapist PC Cover

There are many indie games on the market today and whether that be on the PC, Xbox, or PlayStation each one has its own uniqueness and appeal to it.  Although, there are others that try to leech off of others successes, some do come out with their own originality. One of those games just happened to recently flip out of early access and bash into its own spot on Steam and it’s called “The Escapists.” The game puts you in the role of an inmate, who the player gets to lightly customize (i.e change his look, race, hair type) and name him whatever you see fit. You can also name other NPCs you interact with as well before you start each scenario. Once you start a new game it is definitely advisable to select the tutorial just due to the fact you can easily get confused about what your end goals are while playing.

The Last Of Us Part II Review

The Last of Us is a game that was known not only for its graphics, pushing the PS3 to its absolute limits when it was released, but also for its story, which was critically acclaimed. People fell in love with the characters known as Joel and Ellie during the duration of the game. The father/daughter bond they formed was groundbreaking and the extent to which Joel went to save Ellie was both empathizing but also incredibly controversial in that it asked a question, if it meant saving the world, would you let a loved one die in the hopes that a vaccine could be developed against a deadly disease that wiped out a majority of humanity? It is a question that absolutely makes you think, and one that considering the circumstances, absolutely made you empathize with Joel for what he did at the end of the first game. The game sold extremely well, to the point where fan demand for a sequel was made.

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition Review

Okay, where to begin? I am legit having trouble knowing where to start when it comes to talking about Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition, it took me a long time to fully appreciate this game for what it is but appreciate it I do. Let me start out the gate by saying that the game is a masterpiece!  Not only does it look amazing, but it plays every bit as good as it looks as well. This is one of those special games that hits it out of the park in just about all areas. Literally everything about it is top notch, aside from a few minor faults. More about that later.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Review

What’s up everybody welcome to RealGamerNewZ. Today the new Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War has released on PS4, Xbox, and PC platforms with next-gen upgrades on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 as well. We’re playing on PC using high frame rate settings and noticing the many differences between this game and Modern Warfare 2019. For starters, there is far less recoil on the guns – virtually none in fact. The sound design is less realistic and the gameplay feel is ultra fast with less thought given to realism in the shooting, reloading, tossing of lethals, etc. to an interesting result. This game is very fun once you get used to it, but certainly a bit more cheesey and less skill based compared to Modern Warfare 2019.

Final Fantasy VII Remake – Real Gamer Review

Final Fantasy VII Remake – Real Gamer Review

Episode 1 in the Final Fantasy VII Remake saga was quite impressive, restored hopes for the seventh entry in the series to see its modernization in this upcoming generation, and a resolution to the issue of how to do a hybrid real time action and turn based decision making battle system in a Final Fantasy game. This single equation held the key to whether or not fans would be able to accept a modern retelling of one of the iconic, classic JRPG titles from the original PlayStation era.

Oculus Quest 128GB Review

A completely wireless standalone game console has been built into one of the latest virtual reality headsets from Oculus. The California-based company has played a major role in the implementation of modern VR tech thanks in no small part to major contributions from the industry ‘brainiac’ behind id Software and Oculus CTO John Carmack. The company looks to be still pioneering and innovating to this day despite fears from some gamers that the firm being acquired by Facebook in 2014 would affect trajectory.

Fire Emblem Three Houses (Switch) Review

Fire Emblem: Three Houses is the return of the tactical RPG series onto a home console platform where Intelligent Systems takes full advantage of the new hardware power of the Nintendo Switch over the Nintendo 3DS. Three Houses feels like the Fire Emblem game I’ve dreamed of playing since Fire Emblem Path of Radiance on the GameCube. Something that feels like the big budgeted tactical RPG adventure that it deserves to be. Full voice acting, amazing soundtrack, choices that impact the direction of the story, characters that will stick with you for years to come. This game has everything that RPG fans will love, while also having and engrossing customization and tactical gameplay systems.

SUPERHOT is a name that many gamers are likely familiar with at this point. Although it has been a highly successful title, across multiple platforms, this game has humble roots. In fact it was first created during the 2013 7DFPS (7 Day FPS Challenge) Game Jam. After that it went on to become a web browser game in September of that year but didn’t appear in the form people know it today until its Windows release on February 2016.

Party Hard 2 Review

Party Hard is a unique serial killer simulator released in 2015 that attempts to combine dark comedy with enjoyable gameplay and gruesome, but calculated murder. The result was a huge hit with the Steam version of the game receiving very positive reviews from thousands of gamers. With a pixel art landscape, stealth objectives, and various strategies to enact in order to achieve your goals, players must take out certain members (or the entire crowd) of an ongoing party. This has to happen with the least disruption and panic as to avoid being caught by the police. Witnesses are also not good!

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Real Gamer Review

Black Ops 4 marks the first Treyarch developed COD game since 2015 and the extra time taken for its development certainly shows. While not perfect, this year’s Call of Duty has taken on a lot of praise from skeptics and loyalists alike. There’s a reason why sales in the series have been going downhill whenever Treyarch isn’t involved, and with BO4 they’ve proven once again that they’re not to be underestimated. At the top of the priority list for BO4 is quality, performance, precision, and a brand-new take on battle royale.

We Happy Few Real Gamer Review

We Happy Few is a game that I have personally been very interested since it was shown off years ago at E3. It had that very weird feeling that a game like Bioshock can give you but was also seemingly new and unique, at least from a visual and story standpoint. It started as a Kickstarter project that gained traction fast, then was picked up by Gearbox for publishing rights. Now the game has been in early access on the Xbox preview program since mid-2016, but I have not played that build of the game, so I can’t speak on it.
