Xenoblade Chronicles 3DS Review – An Epic Tale of Two Races Woven Into a Long-winded Masterpiece

xenoblade-chronicles-3d-logo

Back in 2011, a game known as Xenoblade Chronicles was confirmed for release in Europe. During that timeframe, there were whispers at the time that there were no plans to bring the game to North America. This in turn angered many of us here in North America, and in response to it, a group known as Operation Rainfall was born. Now Operation Rainfall actually broke the ice with two other games as well, but their primary target was Xenoblade Chronicles and we knew it for a fact.

Crypt of the NecroDancer Review

Crypt of the Necrodancer Review - RealGamerNewz

Giving a wide variety of dungeons and scenarios for players to experience, Crypt of the NecroDancer is a Roguelike RPG game which actually takes the key principals of the Roguelike genre seriously. Designed by Ryan Clark and Brace Yourself Games, a huge gameplay twist is applied to the title as players are tasked with keeping their rhythm similar to something out of a Dance Dance Revolution style of play. There can even be dance pads hooked up to play! The soundtrack included in the game provides a tempo for the bouncing and bopping to commence to which even garnered an honorable mention for 2015 Game Developers Choice Awards for Innovation and Best Audio among other moments of significant industry recognition. The soundtrack gets new tracks unlocked as the game progresses as well as  is extended if players reach New Game+ / New Game++ modes allowing for unlocked gear to be carried over. Alternatively, a custom MP3 collection can be used as a user soundtrack.

Heroes of Might & Magic III – HD Edition Steam Review

Heroes of Might and Magic III - HD Edition Steam Review

For the 20th anniversary of the Heroes of Might & Magic franchise, we present to you the Heroes of Might & Magic III – HD Edition Steam Review. Before we begin, a brief history of the path this game has walked to arrive in front of you here today. Might & Magic began as a video game for the Apple II personal computer and eventually made its way to many other platforms including the Commodore 64, TurboGrafx-16 CD (in Japan), and eventually even the Nintendo NES. The game was one of the most early role playing games to emerge in the industry and was mostly created by one person, Jon Van Caneghem. Knights, Clerics, Robbers, Sorcerers, Paladins, and Archers are created with tracked statistics that evolve over time, similar to a Dungeons & Dragons system.

The Denpa Men 3: The Rise of Digitoll 3DS Review

Denpa Men 3 Review RGN

The Denpa Men 3: The Rise of Digitoll is a fairly recent release on Nintendo 3DS eShop from this Spring which is also known as Denpa Ningen no RPG 3 in Japan, and they sure got the “no RPG” part right. This game is great because it provides a role playing game experience for players who might not be good at other hardcore / traditional titles in the genre. This game is also bad because the fighting turns always feel completely automatic and advanced players deserve a better mode to play with for their expert enjoyment. It simply is not very fun for experts of the genre. The graphics are pretty neutral with very basic 3D models used typically and not much texture placed on top of them. This leaves the game feeling like a budget production.

Final Fantasy III (New PC Version) Review

Final Fantasy III New PC Version Review RealGamerNewz

Final Fantasy III is a member of the classic retro series from the epic turn-based role playing game franchise beloved by many and affectionately known as FF. Square made the game back in 1990 for the Famicom (Japan’s name for what we called the Nintendo NES). This title never made it to the USA and instead the North American audience was given FF6 on SNES some years later with the moniker “Final Fantasy III”, so if you’re a bit confused that’s definitely forgivable. With so much age sprinkled on FF3 by this point in time, it’s understandable that even some of the most die hard FF fans will be unable to enjoy the original title as it was intended to be felt. Thankfully this game was remade for the Nintendo DS in 2006 and this is the big daddy, high-spec version of that game!

Eschalon: Book III Review

Eschalon- Book III

One of the original formats of games, the traditional tabletop role playing game genre, is brought to life in Escahlon: Book III for beginners and pros to hash out their dice rolling dreams (and nightmares). To start things off, players select their Gender, Origin, Axiom, and Class while also setting a Portrait image (with custom images allowed as well) in addition to picking 15 available Skills and dice rolling attributes including Strength, Dexterity, Endurance, Speed, Intelligence, Wisdom, Perception, and Concentration (20 attribute points are also distributed manually by the player). Once all of this has been completed and a character has been given a name, the game begins. The skills available range from Light / Heavy Armor to Foraging, Medicine, Hiding in Shadows, Swords, Picking Locks, and much more. Choosing these skills will play a large role in defining the gameplay experience players will get out of their time with Eschalon: Book III. The game can be played in Hardcore mode (or lower settings) for additional difficulty as well.
