Hypergun Review

Hypergun is a fast paced, rogue-lite first person shooter that just completed its Early Access stage of development and is now available as a full product on Steam and GOG Galaxy with PS4 and Xbox One versions launching during Fall 2018.

The premise in Hypergun is that an alien invasion on the horizon threatens humanity in 2038. With a futuristic Earth on the brink of destruction, you play as a DEVtechs intern Dewey Owens who must save the world and fight through countless hoards of aliens and obstacles that cross his path.

There will be mayhem, 150 weapon modules, character classes, procedural level generation, 40+ unique abilities, and more in the latest project to come out of Toronto-based NVYVE Studios who have been around since 2013 and are also responsible for last year’s open-world title P.A.M.E.L.A. which was made using Unity.

BOID Steam Early Access Review

BOID Steam Early Access Review RealGamerNewz

BOID is a game that reminds me a lot of StarCraft – but not in a good way since it doesn’t live up to that potential influence in a meaningful way. The graphics are decent but the gameplay looks like something you would get out of a Health book. The graphics are also not only if you keep in mind this is an indie RTS game.

Over 9000 Zombies (Steam Early Access) Hands-On Preview

Over 9000 Zombies Preview RealGamerNewz

Build tons of turrets and stand your ground as zombie hordes attack wave by wave. Random populations of zombies are ever present as well. Day turns to night, and bullets turn to grenades, pistols turn to sub machine guns and assault rifles as battle turns to war against the undead.

Tango Fiesta Steam Hands-On PREview

Tango Fiesta - Steam Early Access - RealGamerNewz Preview Video Gameplay

Tango Fiesta is a game that takes you back to the days of Rambo III on the Sega Genesis, but with more of a focus on action rather than stealth. Immediately Tango Fiesta is fun as hell, and is meant to be played on the controller. For the testing purposes of this game, I used a standard PS4 DualShock 4 over the ControllerMAX (Aka CronusMAX) adapter (our review here), but you can use an Xbox 360 controller as well if you have one around.

IndieSpotlight: Dungeons: The Eye of Draconus

RealGamerNewz IndieSpotlight- Dungeons- The Eye of Draconus

Welcome back to our favorite new RealGamerNewz Section, IndieSpotlight, in which we attempt to bring to the surface independently developed video games that are more than worth your attention. A good while back (before the RGN fireworks party about a new Micro-Console being announced and put into hardware beta called the OTON X) we had the chance to speak with some really creative and technically skilled professionals who had put together a game called Dungeons: The Eye of Draconus which is a coming-soon, work-in-progress game you can see at the bottom of this screen in a very early version of the title recorded in Full 1080P High Definition.

Magicite Early Access Review

Magicite RealGamerNewz Review

Magicite is an indie game that has an early access release on steam and continues the trend of indie survival adventure games but with a 2D platformer / RPG twist to it. When players start the game they create a character of which they would like to play the game as. This character creation process includes being able to choose how he / she will look. Stats for the character are randomly generated along with traits. Annoyingly though, you cannot select your own stats or traits which diminishes the customizability of your character.

Next Car Game Hands-On Preview

Next Car Game

Next Car game is made from the same company that developed Flatout, Bugbear Entertainment. In this arcade game, players race around tracks or take part in demolition derbies, trying to destroy all others cars. In this title, you crash into other cars a lot;  It’s difficult to drive without crashing into other vehicles because there are 24 other players in that derby or race. That’s not a bad thing at all, I mean that’s what this game is so far. Crash and drive.

Blackguards (Hands-On) Preview

The Dark Eye Blackguards Preview - RealGamerNewz - Daedalic Ent

In Blackguards players start off on the wrong side of the law with little to no understanding of what was reality and what was fantasy. The main character witnesses a strange wolf, which almost seems possessed, killing a princess he knew well and was sworn to protect. When he’s killed the beast though the princess lays on the ground with blood all around her and there is now no wolf to be seen. The player is discovered and amongst the confusion hears a voice whisper out to him. Taking the blame for what happened, unsure of who is really responsible for what happened, and tortured in the pain of imprisonment both within his mind as well as literally Blackguards begins with the player on a quest for answers. IndieSpotlight: Assault Android Cactus

Assault Android Cactus - Steam Early Access - PS4

I recently have had the pleasure of e-meeting the developers behind an incredible new twin-stick shooter called Assault Android Cactus which is currently available on Steam Early Access (and as a playable demo) and will arrive on the PS Vita, PlayStation 4, and Wii U as well as provide support for Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows PC Gaming platforms. After getting my own two hands on the title and speaking in-depth with Witch Beam about AAC I can definitely say that what makes this game stand out from others gunning for attention right now is the love and care the devs have put into it. With a real focus on platform specificity too, this is not just a game getting ported around but rather having tailor fit versions for each machine it ends up landing on. In the following article I will describe some of the discussions I had with Witch Beam in regards to Assault Android Cactus and also what each platform of gamer can expect out there. Later this week keep your eyes out for my hands-on Preview as well.

IndieSpotlight: Iron Roads

Steam Greenlight Iron Roads

Iron Roads aims to capture the old school fun of games like Railroad Tycoon while adding new layers and wiping away the micromanagement. Managers are moved from different offices to optimize efficiency within a headquarters building as players run the show controlling HR, Advertising, Supervisors, Trainyard, Rail Facility, and other various departments. For example, you might send a manager to a grain silo to increase loading of a product or Railyard to figure out why a certain train isn’t being fixed in time.

SmashMuck Champions Preview

smashmuck-champions

Smashmuck is a new MOBA about to make a splash and get all the girls wet. In SmashMuck Champions you will battle foes in a managed team of 10 in an online arena over 5 different game modes. You can customize your fighter, train, and practice all before you pit yourself against the onslaught of attackers ready to bludgeon your face with their fists, swords, hammers, or bludgeoning tools. Okay, so maybe I made the bludgeoning tool part up.

The New Way to Play God — Godus Hands-On Preview

Godus Gameplay Screenshot 1

From the moment you start up Godus, things are mysterious and quite wondrous. You’ll slowly be taught exactly what’s going on at whatever pace your believers grow at. You are essentially playing as a higher power that exists and is believed in by the inhabitants of the world which you can influence. You’re able to interact with the world by doing things like chopping down trees and reforming the landscape around to give your believers some new ground to colonize, but be careful as you may accidentally destroy some of your believers shelter in the process. You also need to click on your own followers / believers from time to time as your influence is necessary to keep them alive. They’ll sometimes die on their own as well from accidentally walking off the land or what appear to be spontaneous health problems.
