I Am Bread Review

I Am Bread Review - RealGamerNewz

This is an incredible game, don’t let the score being below a 7 fool you. We believe it was a hard earned amount of points and nearly full amount as well. Bossa Studios are very talented and while the silliness of some of their games is probably a topic of debate for many, we have no issue with it. We truly think it’s hilarious and inventive that they’ve found so many ways to get creative with such a simplistic concept. Control each corner of a piece of bread and attempt to get it into the toaster without being too dirty to eat, and it’s way harder than it sounds.

Tasked with battling an ever-changing variety of enemy hordes room after room, The Weaponographist has players assuming the role of dungeoneer Doug McGrave who is seeking vengeance on a witch who has cursed his ability to hold on to goods or currency. Tower of Guns Review

Tower of Guns Review - RealGamerNewz

Procedurally generated arenas are faced by gamers in this roguelike first person shooter describing itself as having “bullet hell” attributes, which means so many bullets on-screen you barely know which to dodge and which you’ve fired yourself. The game features a loadout system allowing you to choose a gun and a perk before running into battle rather than starting off with nothing. Coins are collected as well as experience the latter of which is used to upgrade weapons during a given instance. Weapons are increased in a variety of ways including spread and damage value. Coins though must be spent in a more discerning way as there are various power-up purchases available throughout each level. These can effect a character’s speed and other attributes.

Grand Theft Auto V PC Review

Grand Theft Auto V PC Review - RealGamerNewZ

The long wait is over, and it’s here, so how is it? Grand Theft Auto V runs on the PC like a dream come true. I played it once on the PlayStation 3, I played it again on the PlayStation 4, and now I’m playing it on my Windows PC. Some may say “hey, wait a minute, this is just the same old game being re-released?” and that’s not entirely true – however, I say to that it’s a testament to how good this game really is. When you play it over and over again you notice more and more care and love that was put into every piece of the title by Rockstar Games. It still stands high and tall above the quality of other games on the market even to this day, it has not been out-done in these couple of years in which it has seen release on the PS3 / 360, PS4 / XO, and now Windows PC platforms.

Halo: Spartan Strike Review

2015-04-18_00001

The Year is 2552. Murder aliens for the good of the human species in Halo: Spartan Strike, where you don’t play as Master Chief but you will be fellow a Spartan soldier uncovering the details of events in the Halo story-line previously shrouded in some degree of mystery. Thirty missions are faced as back-story is given to the Halo franchise and that same beloved twin-stick shooter gameplay from Halo: Spartan Assault is brought to an even higher quality level. Tom Salta who did the soundtrack for Halo 2: Anniversary is back again to provide a moving score that feels great while gaming, and graphically the title has been taken to a new level as well. While you can get the game from Windows Store on your Windows 8 Phone, Windows 8 PC, or the Apple Appstore on iPhone / iPad, many people enjoy playing through Steam on Windows 7 still and Microsoft chose not to leave us behind thankfully. The game is fully available on its own for just $5.99 or with the original game it sequels for $9.99 as a two-game bundle.

Titan Souls PS4 Review

Titan Souls Review RealGamerNewZ

Although this game perhaps needs no introduction, I’ll start by saying Titan Souls is one of the recent indie-developed games that are part of a larger wave of software focusing squarely on gameplay. That’s not to say it doesn’t look and sound great, but surely in a world where multiple hundreds of millions of dollars are being spent on big budget games we are looking for pure gameplay design to merit purchases from smaller studios or even teams of three such as the case with Titan Souls.

Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare – Ascendance DLC Review

RealGamerNewz Advanced Warfare Zombies - Ascendance DLC Review

When we last left off, the Call of Duty Zombies experience was being re-invented through High Moon Studios and Sledgehammer Games very different approach to things. Now that Black Ops 3 has been announced and Treyarch is known to be making another installment to their world of Zombies, the pressure once again shifts back upon Advanced Warfare’s DLC packs as a new piece of Exo Zombies gaming is added with Ascendance. In addition to the second edition of Exo Zombies (entitled Infection), there’s also four new multiplayer maps being added to the competitive online experience. We will go over each of these one by one as well before delving into what the newest chapter of Exo Zombies has to offer.

PDP Mortal Kombat X PS3/PS4 Wired Fightpad Review

The first thing you’ll notice upon picking up PDP’s Mortal Kombat X fight pad, is how light and comfortable it is. The Dualshock 3 and 4 feel sort of heavy by comparison, and normally I consider those controllers to be on the light side as well. It features an ergonomic grip, which provides better handling of the controller. Instead of following the DS4 and 3’s traditional button layout, the fight pad has an arcade style 6 button layout, with the L1 and R1 buttons in front, and a more traditional d-pad.

The share and option buttons are brilliantly placed at the top of the controller between the L2 and R2 buttons, keeping them out of the way to avoid accidental pausing, or going into the share menu when in an online match. Despite the controller’s small size, accidentally hitting the wrong buttons when playing never becomes a reality, thanks to their placement and the fact that they are bigger than those on the dualshocks. The face buttons are all micro-switches, providing the player with tactile and audio feedback with each press. Thankfully the clicks are not obnoxiously loud, unlike the many arcade sticks out there.

Having spent ample time using this product with both Injustice: Gods Among Us and Mortal Kombat X, I can gladly tell you that it works almost flawlessly. Executing combos is easier with the MKX fight pad compared to the PS4 and PS3 controllers, thanks to its more precise directional pad and super responsive buttons. I definitely feel like a better player using the pad, compared to the Dualshock 4. The arcade style button layout allows for better performance. With the throw and interact buttons, now placed next to the ones for punching and kicking, kombat just flows better. There were moments though, where my character would not perform a specific special attack, despite my hitting the correct command. Fortunately they have been very rare occurrences and do not warrant any major concern.

There haven’t been any instances of input lag and the fact that it is wired, means you won’t have to worry about the minuscule lag accompanied with wireless controllers when playing online. You also do not have to worry about batteries dying on you, during long play sessions. For those of you who prefer to play in ‘claw style’ (Claw grip), you’ll be happy to know that the fight pad’s layout supports it.

The MKX fight pad is backwards compatible with the PlayStation 3, so anyone who wants the game for it can still purchase this controller. One flick of the switch at the bottom and you are good to go. Simple and easy. PDP did good by allowing this; saves those who eventually upgrade to the PS4 version from having to buy a brand new fight pad.

While this is an impressive product, it isn’t without its problems. PS4 owners who want to play online and trash talk while doing so, will require a wireless headset. Sadly there isn’t a port for wired models, meaning you’ll have to play multiplayer without the ability to communicate. By comparison, Madcatz’ Street Fighter IV fight pads were compatible with wired headsets, but they were also bulkier so headset compatibility may have been sacrificed in order to attain its current size and weight.

Another issue involves the exclusion of the DS4’s touch pad. Though the touch pad serves no purpose during MKX’s gameplay, the option to go fullscreen when playing/spectating in certain online game modes is assigned to it, meaning you’ll have to play like this:

The severity of this issue depends on the player, their preference and the size of their monitors. Personally it doesn’t bother me at all, but it is something worth noting. Especially if you game on a smaller sized screen.

Final Verdict: If you are looking to step your game up in Mortal Kombat X or even Injustice, then pick this bad boy up. Unless you would find yourself insanely bothered by its very short list of flaws, I have a hard time not recommending this to you. The Mortal Kombat X fight pad delivers comfort and damn near perfect precision. Priced at $50, it is a really great alternate to the more expensive and heavier arcade sticks.

The Escapists Steam Review (Time To Bust Out!)

The Escapist PC Cover

There are many indie games on the market today and whether that be on the PC, Xbox, or PlayStation each one has its own uniqueness and appeal to it.  Although, there are others that try to leech off of others successes, some do come out with their own originality. One of those games just happened to recently flip out of early access and bash into its own spot on Steam and it’s called “The Escapists.” The game puts you in the role of an inmate, who the player gets to lightly customize (i.e change his look, race, hair type) and name him whatever you see fit. You can also name other NPCs you interact with as well before you start each scenario. Once you start a new game it is definitely advisable to select the tutorial just due to the fact you can easily get confused about what your end goals are while playing.

GUNNAR Intercept Onyx – Computer / Gaming Eyewear Review

RealGamerNewz - GUNNAR Review

Protect your eyes from constant damage through staring at a screen all day and all night whether gaming or working. Sounds too good to be true, right? I had my suspicions, but am happy to report that assuming a pair of GUNNAR eyeglasses won’t help the average to extreme gamer / computer user would be dangerously wrong – they indeed help a ton. I’m somebody that gets way too much face time with screens. If I’m not working on a computer I’m usually gaming on a console, computer, handheld, even twiddling around with my smartphone or tablet. Until cybernetics becomes cheap and affordable, this is my life. I’d recently been getting incredibly painful symptoms of eye strain and fatigue including visible veins and chronic migraines, and while GUNNAR eyewear probably won’t end that completely it has been the best method I’ve found thus far to prevent that from happening.

Game of Thrones: Episode 3 – The Sword in the Darkness Review

Game of Thrones - Telltale Games - Episode 3 Review - RealGamerNewz

Intensity heats up in the graphical adventure’s third installment as Mira’s previous actions begin to impact her delicate situation in King’s Landing. Attempting to help her family either passively or aggressively (depending on the player’s actions in previous installments) begins to weigh on the scales of her public image within society. At the same time, we learn that some of the Forrester men we thought had perished indeed are alive though just barely. Players must continue to deal with the encroaching influence of the Whitehills under the Boltons and begin making a plan. Only it just isn’t that simple. A traitor is discovered to be among the Forrester’s closest council but without clear evidence of whom that might be it is difficult to act on that news. Perhaps even worse is that the source comes from a not so particularly trustworthy individual. The daughter of Ludd Whitehill attempts to rally the Forrester clan to come to a mutual, peaceful agreement including bowing down to her brother Gryff for their own good – or is it?

Born of Kickstarter and now available on Steam as well as directly through the developer Frontier Development’s website, Elite: Dangerous is a Space Simulator with heavy emphasis on large-scale open world elements focused around the piloting of deadly spaceships built for combat. Frontier Developments has made two titles like this in the past, but due to disagreements with publishers this latest title was met with much delay and finally put together thanks to the advent of crowdfunding. The game is even planned for release on Microsoft’s Xbox ONE some time during the second or third quarter of 2015. Truly back by popular demand, Elite: Dangerous attempts to offer our flight sticks something incredible – but how well does it succeed?

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number Review

Hotline Miami 2 - Wrong Number - RealGamerNewz Review

Back and bloodier than ever, the so-called “final chapter” of this brutal series, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number takes place before and after the initial game in the series, but mainly after. A sequel and a prequel at the same time, if you will, the game has plenty of characters to play as. The Fans, Martin Brown, Beard, The Writer, etc. Most have their own abilities, such as The Fans all being vastly different. Mark can dual wield SMGs which can be aimed at two different targets simultaneously, Corey can roll out of the way of bullets, Tony can one-hit kill people with his fist but cannot pick up weapons, and The Twins can be controlled at the same time; one wielding a chainsaw and the other grabbing weapons off the ground.

Tales From The Borderlands – Episode 2: Atlas Mugged Review

Tales From The Borderlands - RealGamerNewz Review

This exciting second episode from Telltale Games picks up immediately where the first left off. More blood is placed on our unlikely heroes hands, if you can really call them heroes that is. Charming personalities must once again fight against their own instincts to come up with some kind of way to trust each other. Trust, it seems, is the only factor holding people together in a world full of chaos and constantly shifting goal posts. Of course, depending on the decisions you’ve made in the first episode of Tales From the Borderlands, the experience you get in Episode 2 may vary a bit. One thing you can count on though is another driving scene, complete with high anxiety, defensive violence, and some very unexpected turns (please forgive me for the pun, I don’t use them often).

SteelSeries Siberia V3 Gaming Headset Review

RealGamerNewz - SteelSeries Siberia V3 Gaming Headset Review

Impressively high quality for a low price, the Sibera from SteelSeries is now one of the best headsets I own. Extreme comfort paired with one of the best noise cancelling ear pads at this price point go a long way to make this set special, but the microphone quality is where Siberia really stands apart from its competition. If you need to escape from the world around you, throw these on. If you need to do podcasting, create video content for YouTube, or just be heard clearly when gaming the Siberia’s microphone audio quality is almost indistinguishable from an entry-level professional desktop microphone that you may have seen professional YouTubers using. This blew me away and was not expected especially given how inexpensive SteelSeries have managed to make it. The fact the Siberia is capable of doing so well at this and remain cost effective is a real service to the gaming community.
