MSI Z87 XPower Motherboard Review

MSI Z87 XPower Tech Review - RealGamerNewz

So I was looking at motherboards a week or so ago and saw that the XPower was on sale for 60% off on Newegg and thought “Hey this might be a nice board if I went Devil’s Canyon.” I did look at the reviews to see why it had such a low rating and it was mostly BIOS issues from the looks of it. So about 3 days passed and I ended up placing the order for the XPower board and wanted 1 day shipping which turned into 3 days. I received the board last Thursday and immediately took it out of the box and took some photos of it.

Distance Steam Early Access Review

Distance Steam Early Access Review RealGamerNewz

This game has qualities that are reminiscent of Wipeout. It runs great and keeps its frame-rate at a smooth 60 frames per second even when you’re going at high speeds and when things get hectic. The only thing that keeps this game from getting a full 10 out of 10 is that we find the flying sequences break the immersion unfortunately keeping the player from getting in that full focus. Overall the game provides a psychedelic feeling of pleasure similar to what Wipeout could induce when playing. Even with the issue of flying sequences being troublesome, this game can still give you that feeling and players will have a crazy time playing it.

BOID Steam Early Access Review

BOID Steam Early Access Review RealGamerNewz

BOID is a game that reminds me a lot of StarCraft – but not in a good way since it doesn’t live up to that potential influence in a meaningful way. The graphics are decent but the gameplay looks like something you would get out of a Health book. The graphics are also not only if you keep in mind this is an indie RTS game.

Ori and the Blind Forest Xbox One Review

Ori and the Blind Forest Xbox One Review RealGamerNewz

An impactful journey begins with a heart-wrenching narrative in which the cycle of life and death are prevailing themes. Players discover more about how to play as this cycle becomes better understood. Each part of the environment, which may at first seem unapproachable, ends up serving its own purpose in this nearly perfect ecosystem of gameplay design. From a team of developers called Moon Studios collaborating across the world (with members in Israel, United States, Australia, and more) and thanks to the blessing of high speed internet telecommuting, Ori and the Blind Forest lands on the Xbox ONE and Windows PC (via Steam) gracefully showing off Microsoft’s ability to spot a diamond in the rough and propel beautiful visions to the spotlight. Much as the team coming together to make this game, the harmony of each element it consists of reveals itself and the full experience is formed with clarity.

Counterspy PS4 Review

Counterspy PS4 Review - RealGamerNewz

Counterspy is a crazy cool mix of side-scroller elements combined with stealth and shooting moments that work out well. Two dimensional and three dimensional art styles are mixed together providing the best of both worlds in this indie-style title developed by Dynamighty and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Though this is the first game Dynamighty has ever created, the team is made up mainly of industry veterans from the days of LucasArts and the quality of it gives all of us here at RGN great hope that this team of ten will be a positive influence on the video games industry overall.

I, Zombie Steam Review

I Zombie Steam Review

Whether you plug in a controller or use the keyboard I, Zombie is a pretty interesting game that is pleasantly surprising in the way of how satisfying it feels to master. Each level is a mystery. Players are given just enough information to approach the puzzle-like strategy and tactical layout each scene offers. Essentials to the gameplay mechanics include eating humans which turns them into part of your zombie horde, controlling that horde and hanging back while they do the work, and attacking alongside them while attempting to use them as (undead) human shields.

Ironclad Tactics PS4 Review

Ironclad Tactics PS4 RealGamerNewz Review

Ironclad Tactics comes from developer Zachtronics, an indie game developer that has several games in their portfolio which are mainly based on puzzle mechanics of some sort. Their main games other than this release are Infinifactory (our hands-on preview here) and Spacechem. Ironclad Tactics is a strategy game that takes on elements of a collectible card game as a way of controlling units in-game. It was originally released in September 2013 for Windows and Linux then followed releases on Android in October 2014 and hit the PlayStation 4 this year. The story for Ironclad Tactics takes place in an alternate version of 1860 during the American Civil War and follows the two main characters of Joseph and Maxwell who are employed in the Navy’s Bureau of Steam Engineering. They have developed a new kind of mech soldier called Ironclads which run off steam. They are not the only one’s developing Ironclad units though since they are also being developed by the Confederates for the war. The entire story is told with comic strips that are animated to keep the story flowing forward.

Life Is Strange – Episode 1: Chrysalis Review

Life is Strange - Episode 1 Chrysalis Review

Presentation: Life is Strange is a modern day story of time travel, teenage angst, and the high school story wrapped up into one. In gameplay terms this is an episodic, cinematic, interactive drama adventure game, with point and click elements. As we all know time travel is sticky business. Throughout the course of the game you can see how simply rewinding time and changing a choice can alter something, for better, or for worse.

Surgeon Simulator 2013 Anniversary Edition Review

Surgeon Simulator 2013 RealGamerNewz Review

Simulators have been all the rage in the past couple of years. From Goat Simulator to even a Grass Simulator, Simulators have been popping up a lot recently. While some are good and very entertaining the others are just downright random and not as great. Well here is a Simulator where bad controls meet surgical operations: Surgeon Simulator 2013 Anniversary Edition. Surgeon Simulator 2013 is probably one of the most popular simulator games out there that invoke you having to – what else?  – perform surgery in many different environments, and not all of them are the same either. One surgery has you removing and replacing a heart, another has you doing the same thing except you are in the back of a speeding ambulance.

Gioteck HC-2 Stereo Headset Review

HC2

The Gioteck HC-2 Stereo Headset is a cable connected PS4 compatible gaming headset. It features large padded over ear speakers, an adjustable headband, a retractable mic, volume control and a mute sliding bar.

Pros:

The HC-2 has clear surround sound audio with ample bass. Though it was made for the PS4 and Xbox One, it is also compatible with phones, tablets and PC, maintaining performance across devices. While playing The Evil Within, I was able to tell with greater distinction, the location of enemies by their breathing and footsteps as they moved nearer or further away. Which was convenient in maneuvering at better timed moments.

hc2ps4

Cons:

Though at first the headset is very comfortable, it only remains so for a short time before the pressure turns painful. The mic movement is very stiff, perhaps in an attempt to prevent movement during use. However, this creates a weak spot in the bend at the base of the connection to the headset. Attempting to adjust the position of the mic while holding anything but the base will result in a crack or full on break.

Final Verdict:

Skip it!

While the performance of the HC-2 is good, I would not recommend it due to the fact that it isn’t likely to last very long. What is has in performance, it lacks in durability.

Manufacturer: Gioteck

Available: Now

Price: $49.99

The Order: 1886 Review

The Order 1886 RealGamerNewz Review

Presentation: The Order: 1886 is Ready at Dawn’s first big game, compared to the scale of the God of War PSP titles. It is a cinematic third person shooter/adventure game. The game takes place in a Victorian-like London during 1886. Basically a sort of future/past mix version of that time period. While the game feels fresh, it has some shortcomings.

Castle In The Darkness RealGamerNewz Steam Review

An incredible new game paying homage to yester-year has been created by Matt Kap, who is responsible for a great deal of the artwork in Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (among other titles). Castle In The Darkness is the definition of pristine in terms of polish for a Retro-Inspired Indie Platformer / Action RPG. The Kingdom of Alexandria’s fate rests on your tiny 8-ish-bit shoulders after your King has grown ill with a mysterious horde of monsters slaying every last guard in town… except you.

Heroes of Might & Magic III – HD Edition Steam Review

Heroes of Might and Magic III - HD Edition Steam Review

For the 20th anniversary of the Heroes of Might & Magic franchise, we present to you the Heroes of Might & Magic III – HD Edition Steam Review. Before we begin, a brief history of the path this game has walked to arrive in front of you here today. Might & Magic began as a video game for the Apple II personal computer and eventually made its way to many other platforms including the Commodore 64, TurboGrafx-16 CD (in Japan), and eventually even the Nintendo NES. The game was one of the most early role playing games to emerge in the industry and was mostly created by one person, Jon Van Caneghem. Knights, Clerics, Robbers, Sorcerers, Paladins, and Archers are created with tracked statistics that evolve over time, similar to a Dungeons & Dragons system.

Test-The-Talos-Principle-00

The Talos Principle is a unique first-person/third person puzzle adventure game created by Croteam the team that brought you Serious Sam. Now The Talos Principle is not your ordinary Puzzle game as it has many weird but interesting features within the game including a bit of a back story within the game, detailed and intricate puzzle gameplay, many different locations accessible within a certain HUB, and many hidden secrets that lay around the games decently large areas. The game play is almost pretty straightforward and easy to understand as you start you are introduced to a decently large area or Location 1 as I am going to call it. In the first location you are introduced to many of the basic puzzles, enemies, and items you will use to help you progress and make it further into the game, and the story.

About RealGamerNewz

RealGamerNewz Car Jump

RealGamerNewz is a brand that was built on freedom of speech, brutal honesty, and an open-minded team covering a diverse section of topics and platforms. Forged out of molten lava itself, our brand started off as a rebel faction in the blogosphere that was able to overcome the strong arm of censorship that exists in every industry these days and just like a steel sword we are that much stronger for being birthed through fire.

The heat we generated when we first hit the scene with our floating brand podcast which was hosted on various high profile websites eventually demanded that a home for authors with a voice be protected from the politically correct and corporately controlled media outlets of today. RealGamerNewz.com was formed as a haven for those who want to bring the truth to light for gamers everywhere. Better yet, to admit when those truths have many ways of being interpreted, do the best job possible of showing multiple viewpoints, and to keep the spirit of video games strong.

Cities XXL RealGamerNewz Review 3

A whopping 599 thumbs down user reviews on Steam, but is it really a bad game or not? RealGamerNewz answers that and more.

When you actually read these reviews, you may start to notice that the major complaints most have against Cities XXL are related to user preference and fixed by existing mods already available for free with easy installation through Steam Workshop, or they are complaints about the game not running optimal enough. I can assure readers that RealGamerNewz has tested this game on a budget, entry-level machine complete with Quad Core processor from AMD and GTX 650 graphics card from NVIDIA (eVGA specifically), with no major issue the game is running for us on just 8 gigabytes of standard DDR3 RAM.

Grow Home Steam Review

Grow Home Ubisoft Review - by TecRev YT of GeekEssentials for RealGamerNewz 6

Gameplay

The gameplay in this game is all around decent. It’s very simple, yet surprisingly fun. The game environment resembles a grid, what I mean by this is that you’re constantly doing the same objective or trying to complete the goal. In Grow Home the object is to explore and help the ecosystem. To do this you harvest crystals, flowers, also make larger plants grow. When you’re doing this you must climb many as well as tall mountains and objects.

Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered Steam Review

David Cage RealGamerNewz GeekEssentials Heavy Rain Review

Indigo Prophecy is a game coming out of the Xbox original lineup of games that were very forgettable. Why this game was remastered is mind boggling. The story revolves around Lucas, a man who was possessed by a spirit that is trying to destroy the world… really original right? In fact that sounds very familiar. The game also has another character Carla. Lucas the main protagonist is involved around a conspiracy of the Indigo Child. Now let’s get onto the gameplay shall we? The gameplay is archaic, almost tank-style control themes that are very hard to control. The prompt system is based on a Simon-says style game and moving the right stick up and down to make decisions.

You Don’t Know Jack – The Jackbox Party Pack PS4 Review

jackbox party pack realgamernewz review

The classic from Windows PC days which spawned its own standalone device (working off of hundreds of paper cue cards and flash cards as well as built-in buzzers, voice speaking, and sound effects makes its way to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. You Don’t Know Jack is a classic form of trivia game show where the host is a straight up comedic act that plays on the cruel and foul nature of dark humor and smack talking among friends. In the middle of a party, it was easy to boot this up immediately and three people in the room joined me from their smartphones in what ended up becoming the center of attention. This is done from the mobile browser, so no need for annoying install / update of apps just gaming, everybody shouting out answers at the people who were playing, while those safeguarded their phones from each other’s sight. The various game modes that go from simple multiple choice, multiple contestants buzzing in modes to bizarre word relation examinations with twitch control or modes geared to one player while the rest tried to sabotage the event through other means given by the game.
