Game of Thrones: Episode 3 – The Sword in the Darkness Review

Game of Thrones - Telltale Games - Episode 3 Review - RealGamerNewz

Intensity heats up in the graphical adventure’s third installment as Mira’s previous actions begin to impact her delicate situation in King’s Landing. Attempting to help her family either passively or aggressively (depending on the player’s actions in previous installments) begins to weigh on the scales of her public image within society. At the same time, we learn that some of the Forrester men we thought had perished indeed are alive though just barely. Players must continue to deal with the encroaching influence of the Whitehills under the Boltons and begin making a plan. Only it just isn’t that simple. A traitor is discovered to be among the Forrester’s closest council but without clear evidence of whom that might be it is difficult to act on that news. Perhaps even worse is that the source comes from a not so particularly trustworthy individual. The daughter of Ludd Whitehill attempts to rally the Forrester clan to come to a mutual, peaceful agreement including bowing down to her brother Gryff for their own good – or is it?

Elite: Dangerous 1.2 Review

Elite Dangerous - RealGamerNewz Review Gameplay 2

Born of Kickstarter and now available on Steam as well as directly through the developer Frontier Development’s website, Elite: Dangerous is a Space Simulator with heavy emphasis on large-scale open world elements focused around the piloting of deadly spaceships built for combat. Frontier Developments has made two titles like this in the past, but due to disagreements with publishers this latest title was met with much delay and finally put together thanks to the advent of crowdfunding. The game is even planned for release on Microsoft’s Xbox ONE some time during the second or third quarter of 2015. Truly back by popular demand, Elite: Dangerous attempts to offer our flight sticks something incredible – but how well does it succeed?

White Knight Xbox ONE Review

White Knight Xbox ONE Review RealGamerNewz

A newly released indie style game developed OSome Studio for publishing firm Activision, White Knight takes place in the 1930’s, the same decade as the great depression. Being that it is in that era players get a Noir feel for the game with the old school hats and suits – more or less everything in the game right down to the decoration in the house the game takes place in. During your time in this house you must survive. Yes, another curve ball is thrown. Not only do you get the Noir feel for the game but it is also a survival horror puzzler game as well. While in the house you uncover clues of what seems to be a spirit or ghost named Selina. Do something wrong or open the wrong door and Selina will end you.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number Review

Hotline Miami 2 - Wrong Number - RealGamerNewz Review

Back and bloodier than ever, the so-called “final chapter” of this brutal series, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number takes place before and after the initial game in the series, but mainly after. A sequel and a prequel at the same time, if you will, the game has plenty of characters to play as. The Fans, Martin Brown, Beard, The Writer, etc. Most have their own abilities, such as The Fans all being vastly different. Mark can dual wield SMGs which can be aimed at two different targets simultaneously, Corey can roll out of the way of bullets, Tony can one-hit kill people with his fist but cannot pick up weapons, and The Twins can be controlled at the same time; one wielding a chainsaw and the other grabbing weapons off the ground.

The war is almost over and the Nazis have all but lost. Rather than accept defeat, Hitler orders the execution of plan Z. Now Germany is overrun by the undead and it is up to a group of survivors to put a stop to the madness. Tales From The Borderlands – Episode 2: Atlas Mugged Review

Tales From The Borderlands - RealGamerNewz Review

This exciting second episode from Telltale Games picks up immediately where the first left off. More blood is placed on our unlikely heroes hands, if you can really call them heroes that is. Charming personalities must once again fight against their own instincts to come up with some kind of way to trust each other. Trust, it seems, is the only factor holding people together in a world full of chaos and constantly shifting goal posts. Of course, depending on the decisions you’ve made in the first episode of Tales From the Borderlands, the experience you get in Episode 2 may vary a bit. One thing you can count on though is another driving scene, complete with high anxiety, defensive violence, and some very unexpected turns (please forgive me for the pun, I don’t use them often).

Bladestorm: Nightmare PS4 Review

Blade

Bladestorm: Nightmare is a third-person strategy game from Omega Force, developers of the Dynasty Warriors franchise. The game is a remake of 2007’s Bladestorm: The Hundred Year’s War but brings some new features along. Is it enough to warrant a return to the war, or enlist for the first time? Yes and no.

BOID Steam Early Access Review

BOID Steam Early Access Review RealGamerNewz

BOID is a game that reminds me a lot of StarCraft – but not in a good way since it doesn’t live up to that potential influence in a meaningful way. The graphics are decent but the gameplay looks like something you would get out of a Health book. The graphics are also not only if you keep in mind this is an indie RTS game.

Ori and the Blind Forest Xbox One Review

Ori and the Blind Forest Xbox One Review RealGamerNewz

An impactful journey begins with a heart-wrenching narrative in which the cycle of life and death are prevailing themes. Players discover more about how to play as this cycle becomes better understood. Each part of the environment, which may at first seem unapproachable, ends up serving its own purpose in this nearly perfect ecosystem of gameplay design. From a team of developers called Moon Studios collaborating across the world (with members in Israel, United States, Australia, and more) and thanks to the blessing of high speed internet telecommuting, Ori and the Blind Forest lands on the Xbox ONE and Windows PC (via Steam) gracefully showing off Microsoft’s ability to spot a diamond in the rough and propel beautiful visions to the spotlight. Much as the team coming together to make this game, the harmony of each element it consists of reveals itself and the full experience is formed with clarity.

Counterspy PS4 Review

Counterspy PS4 Review - RealGamerNewz

Counterspy is a crazy cool mix of side-scroller elements combined with stealth and shooting moments that work out well. Two dimensional and three dimensional art styles are mixed together providing the best of both worlds in this indie-style title developed by Dynamighty and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Though this is the first game Dynamighty has ever created, the team is made up mainly of industry veterans from the days of LucasArts and the quality of it gives all of us here at RGN great hope that this team of ten will be a positive influence on the video games industry overall.

I, Zombie Steam Review

I Zombie Steam Review

Whether you plug in a controller or use the keyboard I, Zombie is a pretty interesting game that is pleasantly surprising in the way of how satisfying it feels to master. Each level is a mystery. Players are given just enough information to approach the puzzle-like strategy and tactical layout each scene offers. Essentials to the gameplay mechanics include eating humans which turns them into part of your zombie horde, controlling that horde and hanging back while they do the work, and attacking alongside them while attempting to use them as (undead) human shields.

Ironclad Tactics PS4 Review

Ironclad Tactics PS4 RealGamerNewz Review

Ironclad Tactics comes from developer Zachtronics, an indie game developer that has several games in their portfolio which are mainly based on puzzle mechanics of some sort. Their main games other than this release are Infinifactory (our hands-on preview here) and Spacechem. Ironclad Tactics is a strategy game that takes on elements of a collectible card game as a way of controlling units in-game. It was originally released in September 2013 for Windows and Linux then followed releases on Android in October 2014 and hit the PlayStation 4 this year. The story for Ironclad Tactics takes place in an alternate version of 1860 during the American Civil War and follows the two main characters of Joseph and Maxwell who are employed in the Navy’s Bureau of Steam Engineering. They have developed a new kind of mech soldier called Ironclads which run off steam. They are not the only one’s developing Ironclad units though since they are also being developed by the Confederates for the war. The entire story is told with comic strips that are animated to keep the story flowing forward.

Presentation: Life is Strange is a modern day story of time travel, teenage angst, and the high school story wrapped up into one. Surgeon Simulator 2013 Anniversary Edition Review

Surgeon Simulator 2013 RealGamerNewz Review

Simulators have been all the rage in the past couple of years. From Goat Simulator to even a Grass Simulator, Simulators have been popping up a lot recently. While some are good and very entertaining the others are just downright random and not as great. Well here is a Simulator where bad controls meet surgical operations: Surgeon Simulator 2013 Anniversary Edition. Surgeon Simulator 2013 is probably one of the most popular simulator games out there that invoke you having to – what else?  – perform surgery in many different environments, and not all of them are the same either. One surgery has you removing and replacing a heart, another has you doing the same thing except you are in the back of a speeding ambulance.

The Order: 1886 Review

The Order 1886 RealGamerNewz Review

Presentation: The Order: 1886 is Ready at Dawn’s first big game, compared to the scale of the God of War PSP titles. It is a cinematic third person shooter/adventure game. The game takes place in a Victorian-like London during 1886. Basically a sort of future/past mix version of that time period. While the game feels fresh, it has some shortcomings.

Castle In The Darkness Review

Castle In The Darkness RealGamerNewz Steam Review

An incredible new game paying homage to yester-year has been created by Matt Kap, who is responsible for a great deal of the artwork in Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (among other titles). Castle In The Darkness is the definition of pristine in terms of polish for a Retro-Inspired Indie Platformer / Action RPG. The Kingdom of Alexandria’s fate rests on your tiny 8-ish-bit shoulders after your King has grown ill with a mysterious horde of monsters slaying every last guard in town… except you.

Heroes of Might & Magic III – HD Edition Steam Review

Heroes of Might and Magic III - HD Edition Steam Review

For the 20th anniversary of the Heroes of Might & Magic franchise, we present to you the Heroes of Might & Magic III – HD Edition Steam Review. Before we begin, a brief history of the path this game has walked to arrive in front of you here today. Might & Magic began as a video game for the Apple II personal computer and eventually made its way to many other platforms including the Commodore 64, TurboGrafx-16 CD (in Japan), and eventually even the Nintendo NES. The game was one of the most early role playing games to emerge in the industry and was mostly created by one person, Jon Van Caneghem. Knights, Clerics, Robbers, Sorcerers, Paladins, and Archers are created with tracked statistics that evolve over time, similar to a Dungeons & Dragons system.
