Until Dawn is a multiple ending game developed by Supermassive Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It follows a group of friends vacationing at a mountain lodge in the midst of winter, who’ve come together on the one year anniversary of a tragedy, in hopes of gaining closure and remembering the lost.
Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition comes from Blizzard Entertainment. Blizzard has been around since 1994 and have been in the gaming industry for some time, they have created such games that have made a real big impression with the gaming community. One example of Blizzard’s work, perhaps the one they are best known for, is World of Warcraft which has over 6.8 million active subscribers. They are also responsible for developing the Starcraft series which is a real time strategy game that’s popular all over the world and is also a huge eSports game. Blizzard also releases Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, Diablo, and will be publishing the upcoming MOBA title Heroes of the Storm set in the Blizzard universe. Since Diablo has come out in 1996 it’s been one of the premier action role-playing hack and slash experiences on the market with iterations that have improved the story as well as add all kinds of multiplayer elements really working with the community to make the ultimate game which  has finally arrived with Ultimate Evil Edition today.
The zombies are once again threatening to destroy the world and the two pairs of sisters from the ancient Vampiric and Baneful clans have to team up in order to stop them. That’s the basic premise for Onechanbara Z2: Chaos, the latest title in the long-running hack-and-slash series. Originally released in Japan late last year, Z2 has now made its way to the West thanks to publisher XSEED. But did they do us a favor, or should they have not even bothered? Maybe.
The Legend of Kay is a game that is remembered by those who played it, especially on the PS2, as a cult classic of sorts; so much so that publisher Nordic Games had the game revamped for current generation consoles and PC in the form of The Legend of Kay Anniversary. Having never played the original, and barely even hearing of it; it’s no wonder I was going into this as a new experience rather than something I was already familiar with. Is it one of those classics that deserve to be remembered as one of the greats? Or is it one of those games that were probably better off being left untouched? These questions will be answered in the following review.

In the final DLC of The Evil Within titled, The Executioner, surviving STEM takes a turn for the better. Enemies that once inspired fear received an unimpressed grunt before meeting their doom at the end of a massive spiked hammer. Areas that conjured dread at the notion of exploring were now comfortable and cozy. Playing as The Keeper made it all feel like home.
The narrative-driven point and click adventure experience from Owl Cave and Mastertronic split into three episodes together at last, but is it worth the hype?
Time travellers these days, am I right? In a game with no relation to the Magneto comic book of similar title, BunnyLord has come back to win elections but that means cleaning up the streets and although he’s not above getting his own hands dirty a number of times throughout the 21 days of campaigning, players are going to help a LOT. This involves taking cover behind bricks, whatever’s around, firing shots at increasingly difficult hordes of enemies, sliding to cover, execution style attacks, grenades, laser beams, rocket launcher – type bullets, grenade-shots, drill-shots, turrets, nail bombs, and whatever’s handy really.
Giving a wide variety of dungeons and scenarios for players to experience, Crypt of the NecroDancer is a Roguelike RPG game which actually takes the key principals of the Roguelike genre seriously. Designed by Ryan Clark and Brace Yourself Games, a huge gameplay twist is applied to the title as players are tasked with keeping their rhythm similar to something out of a Dance Dance Revolution style of play. There can even be dance pads hooked up to play! The soundtrack included in the game provides a tempo for the bouncing and bopping to commence to which even garnered an honorable mention for 2015 Game Developers Choice Awards for Innovation and Best Audio among other moments of significant industry recognition. The soundtrack gets new tracks unlocked as the game progresses as well as  is extended if players reach New Game+ / New Game++ modes allowing for unlocked gear to be carried over. Alternatively, a custom MP3 collection can be used as a user soundtrack.
Axiom Verge is the Metroid/Castlevania/Contra/etc inspired action platformer developed by Tom Happ. The premise is that you control Trace, a scientist who was hurt and then wakes up in a mysterious, advanced, and horrifying world. The more you progress the more equipment you obtain. The world begins to open up to you. It feels as if a ode to games of old that provided that feeling of isolation to a diverse point.
This is an incredible game, don’t let the score being below a 7 fool you. We believe it was a hard earned amount of points and nearly full amount as well. Bossa Studios are very talented and while the silliness of some of their games is probably a topic of debate for many, we have no issue with it. We truly think it’s hilarious and inventive that they’ve found so many ways to get creative with such a simplistic concept. Control each corner of a piece of bread and attempt to get it into the toaster without being too dirty to eat, and it’s way harder than it sounds.
Tasked with battling an ever-changing variety of enemy hordes room after room, The Weaponographist has players assuming the role of dungeoneer Doug McGrave who is seeking vengeance on a witch who has cursed his ability to hold on to goods or currency. Because of a refusal to aid a town in which the dungeon is overflowing with bad guys, this witch has given this main character a really raw deal. This means that each time a weapon is picked up it must be used until it’s no good then discarded.
Never have I ever been so happy to get a gun. In the second DLC of The Evil Within, titled The Consequence, Juli Kidman breaks her bonds and goes on the offense. Where once she only had the option to flee, now she’s been granted the ability to instigate the violence in her favor.
This point and click adventure provides the punch in the chest, awesome introduction right from the start to get players off their feet and interested in the story it is about to unveil. After this crazy opening sequence which entails scrambling for what to do while falling from the sky, whether or not you’ve played the original, The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 can most immediately be recognized for its very high quality voice acting and graphics. The title provides a handful of unique playable characters including Nate, Wilbur, Ivo, and Critter, and spans various time periods as multiple journeys and interconnected events are experienced throughout Aventásia.
Hitting Xbox ONE and Steam Today on April 28, 2015 is State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition, the third person action / adventure / shooter with a persistent world of survivors to be recruited, materials to be scavenged, zombie infestations to be contained, and a lot more. One of the most distinct features of State of Decay lies in its punishment for mistakes. Sure, it takes a lot to get this to happen, so there’s plenty of time to avoid it – but let your camp members die out in battle and they’re gone for good.
Procedurally generated arenas are faced by gamers in this roguelike first person shooter describing itself as having “bullet hell” attributes, which means so many bullets on-screen you barely know which to dodge and which you’ve fired yourself. The game features a loadout system allowing you to choose a gun and a perk before running into battle rather than starting off with nothing. Coins are collected as well as experience the latter of which is used to upgrade weapons during a given instance. Weapons are increased in a variety of ways including spread and damage value. Coins though must be spent in a more discerning way as there are various power-up purchases available throughout each level. These can effect a character’s speed and other attributes.
Shovel Knight is a 2D platformer in which the graphics featured are of an 8 bit style. Players take the role of Shovel Knight who after losing his comrade Shield Knight has gone into isolation. But now monsters and evil knights control the land. All of them under the hand of the evil Enchantress, and only you can stop them and free the land. So boys and girls, erm men and women, this is Shovel Knight, the retro hero.
The long wait is over, and it’s here, so how is it? Grand Theft Auto V runs on the PC like a dream come true. I played it once on the PlayStation 3, I played it again on the PlayStation 4, and now I’m playing it on my Windows PC. Some may say “hey, wait a minute, this is just the same old game being re-released?” and that’s not entirely true – however, I say to that it’s a testament to how good this game really is. When you play it over and over again you notice more and more care and love that was put into every piece of the title by Rockstar Games. It still stands high and tall above the quality of other games on the market even to this day, it has not been out-done in these couple of years in which it has seen release on the PS3 / 360, PS4 / XO, and now Windows PC platforms.
The Year is 2552. Murder aliens for the good of the human species in Halo: Spartan Strike, where you don’t play as Master Chief but you will be fellow a Spartan soldier uncovering the details of events in the Halo story-line previously shrouded in some degree of mystery. Thirty missions are faced as back-story is given to the Halo franchise and that same beloved twin-stick shooter gameplay from Halo: Spartan Assault is brought to an even higher quality level. Tom Salta who did the soundtrack for Halo 2: Anniversary is back again to provide a moving score that feels great while gaming, and graphically the title has been taken to a new level as well. While you can get the game from Windows Store on your Windows 8 Phone, Windows 8 PC, or the Apple Appstore on iPhone / iPad, many people enjoy playing through Steam on Windows 7 still and Microsoft chose not to leave us behind thankfully. The game is fully available on its own for just $5.99 or with the original game it sequels for $9.99 as a two-game bundle.
Although this game perhaps needs no introduction, I’ll start by saying Titan Souls is one of the recent indie-developed games that are part of a larger wave of software focusing squarely on gameplay. That’s not to say it doesn’t look and sound great, but surely in a world where multiple hundreds of millions of dollars are being spent on big budget games we are looking for pure gameplay design to merit purchases from smaller studios or even teams of three such as the case with Titan Souls.
When we last left off, the Call of Duty Zombies experience was being re-invented through High Moon Studios and Sledgehammer Games very different approach to things. Now that Black Ops 3 has been announced and Treyarch is known to be making another installment to their world of Zombies, the pressure once again shifts back upon Advanced Warfare’s DLC packs as a new piece of Exo Zombies gaming is added with Ascendance. In addition to the second edition of Exo Zombies (entitled Infection), there’s also four new multiplayer maps being added to the competitive online experience. We will go over each of these one by one as well before delving into what the newest chapter of Exo Zombies has to offer.
There are many indie games on the market today and whether that be on the PC, Xbox, or PlayStation each one has its own uniqueness and appeal to it. Although, there are others that try to leech off of others successes, some do come out with their own originality. One of those games just happened to recently flip out of early access and bash into its own spot on Steam and it’s called “The Escapists.” The game puts you in the role of an inmate, who the player gets to lightly customize (i.e change his look, race, hair type) and name him whatever you see fit. You can also name other NPCs you interact with as well before you start each scenario. Once you start a new game it is definitely advisable to select the tutorial just due to the fact you can easily get confused about what your end goals are while playing.
